On the whole, I think that this is one of my all time. She didn't know that much at gorillas at first. She. got all her information out of books. But the more she was around the. Her passion for. the gorillas made her for crazy. She threatened poachers and made. She was murdered. The mountain gorillas are still alive. Diann Fossy. Diann loved the the gorillas like they were her. It was her dream to see the mountain gorillas come back from. This movie was a small, basic overview of Dian Fossey life with the. Africa. It first started out with her trying to get a job. She felt that she could make a difference and help. Her mission began as a struggle because she didn't have much. So she had to move her researching to the other side of the. It took her awhile to find the location of the gorillas but. Dian became extremely. She would spend lots of time with the group and. She even put together a little anti- poaching group to help. Near the end of the movie she had become. Even though she died, her research. Her work was admired and many. And I've watched it for a. I viewed. it, when it was first released, had left me. It starts. off poorly, with a fictionalized account of how Fossey met Louis. Leakey, the famed anthropologist and how she begs him for a job. Fossey had already been to Africa at the time she met Leakey. I don't even see. Was she is in love, as some. Leakey? Her love and interest in the gorillas is never. Rwanda. Her relationship with the National Geographic photographer is. Hollywoodized here and does not reach the intellectual. This could have been portrayed on screen a lot better. The shift to sociopathic personality, about halfway through the movie. Her murder was appalling and undeserved but she. Sadly, I think she was ill- served in this bio- pic, perhaps a deeper. However, the gorilla filming was breathtaking. After. moving to Africa, Dian wants to research about mountain gorillas. After. receiving a letter from the National Geographic that allowed her to. After. observing them very closely she finds out that she wants to be part of. This bothered her, and she would do. Even her life, her death is still. For them, one of the things this film brought. Dian Fossey. probably saved the mountain gorillas from extinction, and for this we should. By all indications, she wasn't a very nice person, both in. So we. see a good film of a very flawed person who accomplished much through her. And gave up her life for the cause, probably killed by one of. Secondly, let. me say that Max from Missouri (likely poor white trash) is a complete. This film is touching, heart wrenching, and. Dian was fighting for. I feel, as I'm sure a lot. And by the way, only an idiot would think they were monkeys. The pacing is great. Even though it is a. I think that more insight could have been useful. Dian's relationship with the gorilla Digit. I think another person with no prior knowledge of. Dian or Digit would have thought her as weird as everyone else who knew. Maybe that's what director Michael Apted wanted, though I highly. Dian's aggressive conservation methods. Finally, the ending is rather peculiar. It makes Dian look like a. It has the adorable images of. However. this isn't such a clear cut issue. I realize that recognizing her as. Additionally, it leaves a lot of the science part out. However, her methods of research were controversial. But Dian took a radically different approach. She studied. them in order to get close to them, which gave her a different. That being said, there are many parts of this film that do work. But she can't. hold this movie alone. The script (especially the character) don't. Dian. In the end, I was left. Also, she was very successful at conveying Dian's struggle with. The supporting cast is great. Bryan Brown is the likable Aussie. Dian very believable- -he. John. Omirah Miluwi is terrific as her sympathetic tracker. He likes her. enough that he'll support her through everything, and effectively. Sometimes. he seems like a father figure who is happy when his daughter is happy. In a sense, he's the much- needed link. Dian and the audience, so it's good that he shares the screen. Weaver almost 5. 0/5. The production is brilliant as well. Apted makes the scenery beautiful. He plays it straight, which is as it should be. This was about. all parts of Dian, and just Dian alone. Therefore any weird and. The gorillas were the part that worked. It was impossible to tell which were real or which were. Still, they moved and acted flawlessly. Even with it's faults, .
